A Few Notes About Penn State
University's ...
THE DREAMERS
The Dreamers from Penn State University's main campus are a male a
cappella group that was formed in 1989
by several brothers of the Alpha Zeta
chapter of Phi Mu Alpha, a national social
music fraternity.
This group of guys started singing
do-wop
hits of the 50's and 60's for fun but as
their repertoire grew
so
did the possibility of performing. In
the spring of 1989 the group sang their
first gig at Baby's Burgers and Shakes,
and
thus
began the Dreamers of Phi Mu Alpha.
The free concert performed at Schuylkill
Haven Area Middle School on March 15th
was part of a week-long spring-break
tour during which
The Dreamers performed in schools
and colleges throughout Pennsylvania and
surrounding states
promoting music.
The evening
included a lead performance by 2004
Schuylkill Haven Area High School
graduate Kevin Kahl and an impromptu
performance by former Dreamer and
2001 Schuylkill Haven graduate Kevin Yob.
